Lavender Spike (Lavandula latifolia) is naturally grown in lower altitudes on the sunny hills of the south of France, while True Lavender (also known as Lavandula angustifolia, L. officinalis and L. vera) thrives at higher altitudes. This variance in growing conditions results in Spike Lavender Oil containing a higher percentage of Camphor, the chemical that gives it its distinct sweet and herbaceous-camphoraceous aroma.
