Essential Oil is produced through steam distillation of the aromatic leaves of Salvia apiana, a plant native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico, typically found in the coastal sage scrub habitat of Southern California and Baja California. With a potent, pungent, camphoraceous scent, this oil is commonly used for its ceremonial and therapeutic properties, familiar to those who have utilized this herb. It is also a traditional ingredient in smudge sticks and is commonly used by Southern California Indians as a natural shampoo and conditioner. Some believe that White Sage (Salvia apiana) possesses its own powerful energy, capable of clearing negative energy and attracting positive energy.
